Straylight

BAT Studio designed and produced a unique brand experience for HTC Group (a Smartphone provider) titled Straylight. Described as a “Giant Rotating Kaleidoscope Selfie Mirror Vortex Tunnel.” The installation comprised of 72 mirrored boxes, forming 432 reflective surfaces, creating a tunnel of rotating mirrors. Visitors were invited to walk through the tunnel and experience it’s dizzying effects of the multiple self reflections, combined with those of the surroundings, creating an ambiguous constantly moving environment.

Visitors to the mirror tunnel were given an HTC phone with which to interact and control the installations movement. The phone ran a custom control app so that the orientation of the phone in the visitors hands controlled the direction and speed of the tunnel’s rotation.

The installation was designed to be demounted and toured, appearing at Lovebox, Citadel and Wilderness Festivals.
